INTEGRATION OF DIGITAL SKILLS EDUCATION AND DRUG ABUSE PREVENTION INTO NIGERIA SECONDARY SCHOOL EDUCATION

As part of effort to tackle the crisis and dangers of drug abuse in the society, We are calling on the government to include drug abuse and prevention into the education curriculum. Lead director Speak Out Africa Initiative, Kenneth Eze and other stakeholders made the call in Abuja during our High Impact Panel cum Focus Group Discussion on the Integration of Digital Skills Education and Drug Abuse Prevention into Nigeria Secondary School Education in commemoration of the international Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking to educate students about drug abuse.
Kenneth Eze while speaking to newsmen said pre-engaging the youths is one of the ways to keep them away from drug abuse calling on governments at all levels to pay adequate attention to drug prevention than treatment. A medical practitioner Dr. Udoka Ken-Eze said Drug abuse and its related crisis has eaten deep into the fabrics of many youths and adults in Nigeria, she emphasized the need to begin to arrest the situation from the secondary school stage which will center on constant education and enlightenment on the danger of drug abuse. Mr. Peter Ngokwu a Member of the international society of substance use admonished Nigerians against discriminating against effected persons.
