In an unwavering commitment to community safety, Speak Out Africa Initiative (SOAI) launched the SAVE-FCT campaign during the #16DaysActivism, addressing the urgent issue of One-Chance Crime in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The Menace of One-Chance Crime
One-Chance Crime, a prevalent threat in urban areas, poses serious risks to commuters. In response to this, our dedicated SOAI team members embarked on individual visits to various motor parks across the FCT. Armed with placards and a resounding message, we conducted impactful sensitization campaigns to raise awareness about this menace.
The SOAI Approach: Vigilance and Awareness
At the heart of our campaign is a call to actionβ#SaveFCT from One Chance Crime and #BeVigilant. SOAI believes that empowerment begins with awareness. By engaging with communities at motor park junctions, where people are gathered, we sought to inform and educate on the risks associated with One-Chance Crime. Our placards carried powerful messages, urging everyone to be vigilant and to reject any form of excuse for criminal activities.
Community Engagement for Lasting Impact
Our team's individual visits to different motor parks allowed for personalized interactions with commuters and locals. By directly engaging with the community, we aimed to foster a sense of collective responsibility for safety. This approach aligns with SOAI's core values of community-driven change and empowerment.
