A Vision Transformed Into Local Impact

LOGINaija (Local Open Governance Initiative in Nigeria) was conceived to bridge the gap between citizens and their local governments through digital platforms, civic engagement, and participatory governance practices.

Over the course of its implementation, LOGINaija worked with three pilot local governments:

  • Gwagwalada Area Council (FCT)

  • Umuahia North LGA (Abia State)

  • Ibadan South-West LGA (Oyo State)

Each council signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signifying their commitment to sustaining open governance practices well beyond the project’s lifecycle.

Achievements Worth Celebrating

1. Local Government Websites Launched:
Each pilot LGA now has a fully functional official website with real-time access to council projects, budgets, and citizen feedback tools.

2. Capacity Building:
Training sessions reached dozens of council staff, CSOs, and local officials, enhancing their skills in participatory budgeting, transparency tools, and inclusive planning frameworks.

3. Community Inclusion:
The project facilitated local dialogues, market outreach, and youth engagement sessions, ensuring real voices were part of the process.

4. Systems Transformation:
By digitizing governance and increasing public participation, LOGINaija laid the foundation for replicable models of open local government.

A Resounding Close, A Call to Sustain

The Close-Out Ceremony served as both a reflection and a launchpad. Panel discussions, testimonial videos, and the premiere of the official LOGINaija Documentary highlighted the stories of change already unfolding in communities.

In his remarks, SOAI’s Executive Director Engr. Kenneth Eze emphasized:

“LOGINaija is not just a project, it’s a movement. The real work is what happens after today, as we continue to support local governments in embracing openness, one LGA at a time.”
